One of the key challenges that the AEC industry faces is the ability to define and measure value by any other metrics beyond lowest first cost, and time. So long as the project participants are commissioned as fee-for-service contributors, that won't happen. The identification of project objectives, tied to incentivized reward structures (as per many IPD procurement structures) is a good start toward improved 'value measurement literacy'. Surely we can wean ourselves from 'value myopia' by learning from other industries?
